Illuminated Stillness

Illuminated Stillness brings together linocut prints and acrylic paintings that explore the interplay of light, pattern and domestic space.

Inspired by the leadlight windows and interior spaces of Melbourne homes, the works consider how light filters through glass—softening, fragmenting and reshaping what is seen.

The works focus on the quiet presence of domestic interiors and the way they hold memory.

Repeated motifs—flowers, vessels and interior arrangements—are used to explore how light moves across surfaces, creating moments of stillness and subtle transformation.

Linocut prints and acrylic paintings sit alongside one another, each offering a different response to the same subject. The prints emphasise line, contrast and pattern, while the paintings explore colour, layering and atmosphere.

Together, the works reflect an ongoing interest in how familiar spaces are experienced, observed and remembered.

Each linocut print is hand-carved and printed using a traditional etching press, embracing the tactile qualities and slight variations of the process.

The paintings extend this approach through layered application of paint, allowing form and colour to emerge gradually over time.
